WHAT?

A Festival in honour of the sun. Instead of fancy line-up's, we use summervibes as our key sellingpoint.

In 2012 we (me and compagnon Tom) developed a concept for a new festival with the best theme possible; The Sun. We, like nearly anyone else in Holland, are true sun-worshippers. Due to Hollands climate we're programmed to catch every glimpse of it. A festival in honour of our favourite star had to be a hit. When Pleinvrees events and Next Monday's Hangover asked us to collaborate to make this happen, an epic adventure started. Eight years and eight editions later we're still proud to be Co-Founders and the Creative Directors for the most positive festival around. De Zon has been sold-out every year and is still growing, welcoming 15.000 people to the NDSM-warf in Amsterdam at our latest edition in 2019. 

MARKETING

As we're the only festival around that don't communicate a line-up at all, we build our marketing campaigns on bold ideas to sell our tickets.

SUSTAINABILITY

As a festival in honour of this natural source of energy, we see it as our duty to keep our footprint as small as possible. In 2014 we were the first festival (in Amsterdam) to go completely vegetarian,  In 2019 we started collaberating with Revolution foundation, together we strive to win the Greener festival award 2021. To become the greenest festival of them all we will; only serve plantbased food at our circular foodcourt, use a 100% green energyplan, re- or upcycle our waste, keep it local by welcoming a stunning 85% local guests and artists who get to the festivalsite by bike and much much more.
